Digitalisation of AP Exams

Starting in 2025, the College Board will implement digital AP exams for 28 subjects via their Bluebook testing app. Depending on the subject, exams will be fully digital or a mix of digital and paper-based components.

Key details about the digital format:

  • Most students will need to bring an approved testing device to the exam center.
  • Familiarize yourself with the Bluebook app by downloading it and practicing in advance.
  • Confirm specific guidelines for the digital format with your chosen test center.

Registration

Registration for AP Exams opened on September 16, 2024, and was completed through authorized AP test centers. Since these centers operate independently, they have varying procedures, fees, and deadlines. Make sure to check the instructions provided by your test center.The regular registration period ran from September to mid-November 2024. Late registration, available at some centers, typically extended from December to mid-March 2025, though additional fees may apply.

Eligibility

AP Exams are open to several categories of students:

  • Students enrolled in secondary schools.
  • Homeschooled students or those in virtual or independent study programs.
  • Recent secondary school graduates requiring AP exams for university admissions.

In India, students must bring original identification, such as a passport or an accepted version of their Aadhaar card, to the test center.

Keep in Mind

  • You can take any or all four Physics exams in the same year.
  • You cannot take both Calculus AB and Calculus BC in the same year but may combine Precalculus with a Calculus exam.
  • Students are prohibited from taking two exams scheduled at the same time.
  • For AP Computer Science Principles, enrollment in the corresponding course and submission of a portfolio are mandatory.
